3 Generations at Once!!!!!!!!!!
I had the pleasure of having 3 generations on my boat this past week. Skip (grandpa), jason (dad) and Michael (son) booked me for a trip a month or so ago. The day arrived and they were ready to go.
We left the house at 0600 with a beautiful morning ahead of us. It was calm and muggy morning that showed favor of being a great day on the water, albeit a HOT day lol.
We got to the first spot,...
A day to remember!!!!!
I had customers cancel for Aug 9th, and I knew Kaylin didnt want to fish since she had yaked 4 days in a row, So I asked my neighbor if he was interested in doing some poling and fly fishing etc.
Lamar only fly fishes, so this was going to be interesting since the only fly fishing I have done is in fresh water and a few times in my green light.
Im interested in fly fishing, I just find it hard...
A nice day with a nice couple!!!!!!!!!
Today I had the pleasure of having a couple from louisiana down for some much needed R&R. They had come to galveston, instead of destin due to the oil from the deepwater horizon spill.
They arrived at the house at 630 am and we headed out. As we were running, we saw fast movers, so they asked about them and I explained that these go fast boats were the guys fishing the XRT redfish tournament...
A Buggs Life - Part Deaux
Today I had the pleasure of taking Heath Hippel of buggs fishing lures out on the beavertail to stalk some redfish.
We left the house before daylight and made it into the spot I had decided on the day before and even before we could see the redfish, we could hear them. LOTS of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. as the light slowly started to show the exact location of the reds, we were halfway to a huge school...

Texas Redfish Series Lake Chuck, LA
June 26th 2010 lake Chuck
Today I fished as an alternate for Team Texas Tackle Factory at the TRS Lake Chuck Tourney.. Talk about a BLAST…
At the Capts Meeting, Trey pulled number 36 so that put us in the second flight of boats.
At around 6 am, our number was called and we were off. We were fishing out of a Beautiful 23 Shoalwater Cat tower boat that belonged to a friend of Treys. We were...
Issues 6-25-10
Today I had a great group of guys on the boat. This trip was put together by a long time friend of ours named Bryan. Bryan brought two of his clients . Shane and Lloyd. Both Shane and Lloyd are accomplished fisherman that travel the globe fishing so I was happy to have them on my boat.
This day started off as any other day would have. I was up at 0440 and ready to go by 0500. My party arrived on...

Today I had the pleasure of having 3 great guests on the boat. Rick, Rickie and Jimmy arrived at the house at 5 am ready to go. The plan for the day was to go out and get Rickie his first fish. Rickie is 19 and has been fishing a few times, but has never actually caught anything.. That would change today!!!!!!!!!
We headed out on a nice calm morning with some live shrimp in the livewell and great...

A BUGGS LIFE II
Sunday 6-20-10
The following report is from Kaylin, Kayaker extraordinare ( My wife)
Low winds, low water…..couldn’t be better for hitting the marsh (my personal addiction, lol). I headed out at dawn to make a foray deep into the marsh. I could have taken the boat today and waded some nice pretty grassy coves but the mud and visions of cavorting redfish were calling.
After struggling in...
Tuesday June 1st
Headed east this am and picked up some nice trout here and there for a few hours including 1 that went 7#s on the boga. Around 10am, headed to the jetties to play. I got to the north jetty and there was beautiful water, a hard incoming and alot of bait. So I worked the tip of the north in about 400 yards on the bolivar side and was having a good time sightcasting to reds, jacks and sheepies up...

Today I had a 3 person trip which consisted of a father and son and a good buddy of theres. They came down from the Fredricksburg area to get away and have some fun. Richard, the dad works in Afganistan and is home for 30 days before he returns so he wanted to get out and drink some beer and catch some fish. They accomplished BOTH lol We got a late start, as they didnt have the desire to get up...
TRIPLE JACK CITY
Ok, so I had a charter cancel on me today, so we arranged for our buddy Mike to go fishing with us ( troutmanmike on 2cool). We left the house at 515am headed for the secret redfish hole. We got to the hole and for the first 2 hours of daylight we did all we could to corral the redfish. We ended up with 5 on the boat. We should have had our limit early, but damned if they werent spooky this...

An Evening Bite 5/29/10
I have a trip booked for tuesday evening, so had been thinking about where I was going on this trip so I went out to a regular late summer haunt to see what it was holding. I got on a shoreline and started working tops. I had a few half baked blowups with nothing connecting so I decided to make a run a few hundred yards and try another side. As I was running, I saw a huge set of blowups to my...
Toad hunting!!!!!!!!! Bayou Style
This was a fish my brother caught when we were fishing this monday in Lafitte. The fish was a perfect 28” and was 12.5#s on the boga. I have never in my life seen a 28er come anywhere CLOSE to this kind of weight. I told my brother to take lots of pics, because he wont ever see a fish that fat again lol I caught a little 27” that was 9#s and his made mine look like a dink The pic on...
A fun evening !!!!!!!! 5/18/10
I was not going to go fishing tonight, but Clint called and nudged me till I said ok, Lets GO… Capt Clint showed up at my house before I got home from the plant and had the boat filled with gas and in the water waiting. I got home and we headed out. We hit our spot right around 630 and worked a bayou for about 1 mile very very slowly… Clint was throwing topwaters and I was using soft...
Monday Evening Slaughter
I had the itch to slime the beavertail tonight, so I headed out around 6pm.. I got to my spot at 7pm and ran up a little bayou i like to fish and started blind casting at various schools of bait. It didnt take long before i had my first red, then second, then third etc etc. I fish this bayou to the back of it and found two solid 9# slots and then headed out. Thinking my night was done since all i...

REDFISH
Slammin Reds 4/20
I left BV at 4pm and headed out to the first stop. My first stop was over shell in 4’ of water with bait flicking here and there and worked tops and tails for about 45 minutes with nothing to show for it. So, off to the next stop. The next stop was over sand/shell/grass in 3’ of water. I jumped out and waded this area that I usually dont start wading until around june. Bait was...
One Windy Day
Today , I had the pleasure of having new customers on my boat that were sent my way via a few friends. It was a brutally windy day, but it turned out to be fairly productive.
With winds forecast to be east at 13 to 16 all day, I was fairly comfortable that we would find the fish in the same place I left them yesterday. So at 0600, Josh and Clint arrived ready to go fishing. As soon as we had a...
Prefishing Day Today
I have a trip in the morning, so today I went out to do a few hours of scouting. The guys coming tomorrow want to throw live, so I went to Fatboy’s and got a pint of shrimp.
I hit 5 different spots and it was looking kinda bleak until I hit the last spot, which just so happen to contain the MOTHERLOAD of fish lol. I did one drift about 1.5 miles long over shell and picked up 11 reds to 20...
Redfish Fun
Its been a while since ive posted on here, mainly due to the fact that Kaylin and I have been working hard to get the new house ready to move in. We are finally completely moved in, with the boat in place and everything complete to make it a living palace.
Now that that is done, I am now accepting guided trips again for this year. I think it is going to be a banner year for everything that swims...
