A fun evening !!!!!!!! 5/18/10

I was not going to go fishing tonight, but Clint called and nudged me till I said ok, Lets GO…

Capt Clint showed up at my house before I got home from the plant and had the boat filled with gas and in the water waiting. I got home and we headed out.

We hit our spot right around 630 and worked a bayou for about 1 mile very very slowly… Clint was throwing topwaters and I was using soft plastic… We saw a few reds here and there busting along the shorelines and Clint was having a field day with them on tops… It was like every curve had a redfish in it…

I saw a red slap a shrimp close to the shore and cast right over to him from the casting platform…I worked the lure off the shore and to the main channel and felt a solid THUMP… FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. I was working him back and had just told Clint that he was a small red and i would get him. Right as I said that, HE GOES screaming around the boat!!!!!!!!!. I guess he didnt know he was hooked lol.. He did about 5 circles around the boat and I finally saw him and he was a stud. Got him in guessing his weight was around 8#s.. Incredible weight, considering this fish was right around 24”.. A TOAD for SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We proceded down the bayou and Clint was definately catching more on the skitterwalk than I was on the soft plastic. I however, had flounder in mind so I kept throwing it… As many blowups as Clint had, I should have thrown tops lol

We worked our way down and picked up reds here and there. I think we would have been 1 shy of a limit if we were keeping fish, however we had lots of hits and some smaller reds as well.

All in all it was a great evening with a great friend…
